Kimmie finishes 3rd at Trophee Bompard
Monday, November 20th, 2006South Korean teenager Kim Yu Na held off American world champion Kimmie Meissner of Bel Air to win the women’s event yesterday at the Trophee Bompard in Paris.
For the men, Brian Joubert landed two quadruple jumps to become the first Frenchman to win a singles event at a skating competition in Paris.
Kim, 16, who led after the short program, fell once and stepped out of another jump. However, she had five triple jumps to total 184.54 while the three contestants trailing her also fell.
Meissner in Fourth Place After Falling on Triple Lutz
Saturday, November 18th, 2006World champion Kimmie Meissner fell on her opening jump and was in fourth place in the women’s competition at the Trophee Bompard figure skating competition in Paris yesterday.
Kim Yu-na of South Korea, 16, was in the lead with 65.22 points at the fourth event of the Grand Prix series. She narrowly led Skate America winner Miki Ando of Japan, who had 65.02.
Meissner fell attempting a triple lutz.
Meissner leads skaters at Trophee
Thursday, November 16th, 2006World champion Kimmie Meissner will get another chance to compete against Miki Ando this week at the Trophee Bompard, the fourth event of the Grand Prix figure skating series.
Ice dancers Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski, the Bulgarian world champions, are also in the field for the competition, which starts Friday.
Meissner and Ando are expecting to again battle for a title. Ando beat Meissner at Skate America, where both were superb in the free skate.
Kimmie on her experience at reopening of Baltimore Basilica
Sunday, November 12th, 2006“It’s actually my first time out here and it’s so beautiful inside,” Meissner said about the Basilica. “It’s really great to see it.”
