Kimmie chooses University of Delaware for college education
Posted on Thursday, December 28th, 2006 at 8:38 pmOlympic figure skater Kimmie Meissner, who has trained at the University of Delaware for some nine years, has decided to attend the school, The (Baltimore) Examiner reported today.
Meissner, 17, from Bel Air, Md., will start off next fall with a part-time course load and hopes to earn a degree in physical therapy, The Examiner said.
“Obviously, I know everything about Delaware, but also because they have sports science program,” Meissner told the newspaper. “And my coach is here.”
Meissner finished sixth in the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy before winning the gold medal at the World Championships in Calgary in March. In November, she took third in the Trophee Eric Bompard in Paris.
Meissner is currently training for the 2007 National Championships, to be held in Spokane, Wash., on Jan. 21-28.
