Kimmie Makes Decision to Hire New Coach

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

After a rough winter competition season in which Kimmie finished last at the Grand Prix final and 7th overall at the US Championships, Kimmie mas made a big decision with regards to her figure skating career. She has decided to switch coaches.

She has decided to part ways with longtime coach Pam Gregory and hire jumping guru Richard Callaghan.

Callaghan just moved to Florida to teach at incredible ICE, so Kimmie will be relocating to Fort Lauderdale, where she will train for at least for the next 6 weeks. The affiliated skating club in there is the Panthers Figure Skating Club. Callaghan is the former coach of 1998 Olympic Gold Medalist Tara Lipinski.

In a statement to the media, Kimmie said the following about her big career change:

“I’m just really trying to put all my focus and energy into training for Worlds. I’m grateful to Pam Gregory for everything she has done, but I needed to make some changes in order to regain my focus and confidence.”

Good luck, Kimmie!

Kimmie to be featured in Under Armour Commercial

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

One of Kimmie’s sponsors, Under Armour, is about to launch a footwear campaign and they are doing so with a brand new commercial that will feature 24 of their signed athletes, including Kimmie!

The ad will premiere during a commercial break in the 1st quarter of Sunday’s Super Bowl and lead up to the footwear line’s grand unveiling in May. The Under Armour Training Footwear will be available for pre-order Sunday, after the commercial airs.

Here are Kimmie’s thoughts on being a part of the TV spot:

“I can’t believe I’m going to be in a Super Bowl commercial, and for Under Armour, one of the best clothing lines there is. All the athletes in it are top-notch athletes. It’s neat to be a part of that.”

I will be sure to DVR the Super Bowl so I can put the video up right here on Kimmie Meissner Online. So if you miss, be sure to come back and I’ll have it for you!
