Kimmie Makes Decision to Hire New Coach
Posted on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008 at 9:01 pmAfter a rough winter competition season in which Kimmie finished last at the Grand Prix final and 7th overall at the US Championships, Kimmie mas made a big decision with regards to her figure skating career. She has decided to switch coaches.
She has decided to part ways with longtime coach Pam Gregory and hire jumping guru Richard Callaghan.
Callaghan just moved to Florida to teach at incredible ICE, so Kimmie will be relocating to Fort Lauderdale, where she will train for at least for the next 6 weeks. The affiliated skating club in there is the Panthers Figure Skating Club. Callaghan is the former coach of 1998 Olympic Gold Medalist Tara Lipinski.
In a statement to the media, Kimmie said the following about her big career change:
“I’m just really trying to put all my focus and energy into training for Worlds. I’m grateful to Pam Gregory for everything she has done, but I needed to make some changes in order to regain my focus and confidence.”
Good luck, Kimmie!
