Kimmie to skate in Exhibition before Worlds
Posted on Saturday, February 16th, 2008 at 10:29 pmThe University of Delaware will hold a special exhibition on Saturday afternoon, March 1, featuring figure skaters who will compete in the 2008 World Championships scheduled March 17-23 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The World Figure Skating Send-Off Exhibition will begin at 2 p.m. in the Fred Rust Ice Arena off South College Avenue in Newark.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for children under 18 and for seniors 62 and older, and $12 for UD faculty and staff. Tickets can be purchased at UD box offices at the Trabant University Center or the Bob Carpenter Center, or through Ticketmaster [www.tickemaster.com].
The show will feature University of Delaware freshman Kimmie Meissner, the 2007 national champion, 2006 world champion and member of the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team, and UD’s Kim Navarro and Brent Bommentre, who won the bronze medal in ice dancing at the 2008 U.S. National Figure Skating Championships in St. Paul, Minn. Meissner, Navarro and Bommentre will compete in Gothenburg.
The show also will feature UD’s Melissa Bulanhgui, a junior world team alternate, and Shaun Rogers, a national team member.
